This sculpture is composed of letters salvaged from the welcome sign of Liubymivka, a village seized by the russians and later liberated by Ukrainian troops. The sign was heavily damaged by russian artillery and close-quarters combat.
It is not a coincidence that shape of the sculpture refers to Robert Indiana’s sculpture. The letters of the sign form the word “Volia”, which carries the meaning of both “freedom“ and “expression of will”. This double meaning exists not only in our language – it is part of our identity. This word is as important to us as the word “Love”.
